8 Core Competencies + One!

Competency and Crew Resource Management (CRM) training for pilots has been widely adopted by our industry. There are 8 core competencies for pilots as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in the “Manual of Evidence-Based Training“. Based on the ICAO definition, P2W believes in the importance of all 8 resources, however – we take the view that there is a 9th core competency, which is the Wellbeing of the pilot.

The 9th Core Competency represents a groundbreaking shift in the realm of aviation safety, positioning the pilot at the forefront of our safety initiatives. This innovative approach not only revolutionizes traditional safety protocols but serves as a golden ticket to usher in a new era of excellence.

By seamlessly integrating the principles of the 9th Core competency into aviation training, safety protocols, and threat and error management, we empower aviators with a unique set of non-technical essential skills. This emphasis on holistic education acts as a catalyst, augmenting technical proficiency and fostering a harmonious synergy between human intuition and technological prowess.

The 9th Core Competency is more than a paradigm shift; it’s a commitment to a future where aviation safety is defined by the collaborative brilliance of the pilot and the machine, navigating the skies with unparalleled precision and confidence.
